How do I activate Soda PDF?

Your Soda PDF Plans and Editions are associated with your account.

You will receive an email prompting you to finalize account creation and set your password. 

You will need to assign your device to your account when using Soda PDF Desktop. During your first login to Soda PDF, it will automatically activate.


  • Click on Create Account / Sign In.
  • Choose SIGN IN.


  • Enter your account credentials and click on SIGN IN.

If you purchased a plan, you will see a popup advising you that your plan is now activated. You will see the specific product name appear in the popup.
  • Click on OK.

If you purchased an edition, you will be asked to confirm the association of your edition to your device.

You will see a confirmation popup appear.
  • Click on OK.

In the event that you did not get confirmation that your purchased product was activated, follow the steps below
  • Click on your name in the top right corner.
  • Choose the green Refresh arrow

If you do not get the pop-up confirming your activated product, you can still assign a product at any time. You can use these steps to switch between any of your products.
  • Click on your name in the top right corner.
  • Choose Switch Product

  • Choose the product you would like to assign.
  • Click on SWITCH.

You will see the product assignment popup appear again.
  • Click on OK.

If your newly purchased product is still not available, confirm that you created an account with the same email you used to purchase your product or wait 5 minutes and repeat the actions above.
Soda E-Sign and Soda OCR modules are Add-Ons and do not do not need to be activated.  As long as you are signed in with the email you used to purchase the products, the module will be activated. Though, if you purchased multiple licenses at the same time, you may have to assign the product to yourself.

You can verify that an Add-On is available for you to use.
  • Click on your name in the top right corner.
  • Choose My Products.

Add-on products will have a little i next to them, to help identify them. You can see an example in the screenshot below.

Troubleshooting Tips

Your first opportunity to activate Soda PDF will be during your first installation. Select Click Here next to Already have a License? Note, Activate Now will not open the activation window. 



After you have gone through the Setup Wizard for the first time, you will not see it again unless you install Soda PDF on a new computer.  

You can activate Soda PDF at any time. Open Soda PDF and go to the Activate Module. Click on Enter License Key. 




Enter your license key into the window below, then click Validate 




You will see the window below as the license key is validated. Please be patient, your activation will soon be successful. 

When you activation is successful you will see the window below. 




In the unlikely event your activation does not work you will see this window. If you need help, simply click on the Support option.  


Below are some tips on how to identify the cause and help you get Soda PDF activated.  


1.  Copy and Paste your license key. 

We advise copying and pasting your license key in order to avoid making mistakes when entering your key. Click here to learn more about how to copy and paste.  

2. New Computer, hard drive? Changing systems? 

Soda PDF license keys are valid for only 1 activation. Have you reinstalled Windows or switched your computer lately? Did you decide you’d like to use Soda PDF on another machine? 

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you will need to contact our Support Team. Click here to send us an email and we’ll get you a new key as soon as possible.  

3. Do you have the right Soda PDF installed? 

Click here to double check which version of Soda PDF you purchased. 

If you do not have the right version of Soda PDF installed, your license key will not work.  

You can download any version of Soda PDF here. 

4. Make sure nothing is blocking the activation.  

Temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus. These may block Soda PDF from contacting our activation servers. 

If you need any help at all, let our support team know which antivirus you have installed and your version of Windows. 

5.  Contact Support … Send us the information requested below.  

If nothing is working … we don’t have any other solutions to try. However let’s get to work getting to the bottom of this.  

The development team is going to need to get involved. They will find a solution and get your program up and running. In order to help them out please provide the following when you contact support. 

Screenshots of any error messages.  
Your license key (remember to copy and paste it) 
The version of Soda PDF you have installed. Click here to learn how to get it.  
Your computers system information, NFO, file. Here are the steps to generate this file. 

Hold down the Windows Flag key and then press the key. Type MSINFO32 into the box which opens, then click Ok.  

Your computer will open an NFO file. Click on File and choose Save to save a copy. This will open a Browse window so that you can name and save your file. Please use your family name as the name of the NFO.
