How to Add Stamps to PDF Documents

When reviewing PDFs there are a few annotation tools available that let you express how you feel about the document without changing its content. By learning how to add stamps to PDF Documents you can add your markups with minimal effort. At the end of the day, any trick that gets your annotation tasks completed quickly only makes you appear more impressive.

Stamps can be created from a word or image. Usually, it will be something that will effectively communicate your intentions. Since stamps are part of the annotation layer of a PDF, they can be easily hidden to avoid unnecessary clutter while you’re reviewing the file.

How to add stamps to PDF documents – Default options 

1. Open the Review Tab.
2. Click Stamps.
3. Scroll through the list and choose a stamp.

Your mouse icon will now change signalling you can place your stamp.

1. Left-click anywhere on your PDF.
2. Drag your cursor until the stamp is the correct size.
3. Release the mouse button to finalize.

You can reposition or resize your stamp at any time.

1. Make sure you are in Edit Mode.
2. Select your stamp.
3. Hold down your left mouse button on the border of your stamp to move it.
   1. Place your mouse over one of the circles on the border to resize it.
4. Drag your cursor.
5. Release the mouse button to confirm your change.

You can remove any stamp that appears in your PDF.

1. While in Edit Mode right-click on your stamp.
2. Choose Remove.

While you can modify any stamp in your document, you aren’t limited to the stock options. You can personalize your stamps by creating new ones.

How to add stamps to PDF documents – Creating custom stamps

We’ll start with how to create stamps from images.

1. Choose Create Stamp.

1. Choose Create Custom Stamp.
2. Click Import…
3. Browse your computer and choose the image you’d like to use.

The image will appear in the previewer section.

1. Add a name to your stamp.
2. Click OK to confirm.

You will now see your stamp appear in the Stamps dropdown menu.

1. Click on it and place it in your document.

How to add stamps to PDF documents – Creating dynamic stamps

You can also make a new text-based stamp.

1. Head back to the Create Stamp option. 
2. Choose Create Dynamic Stamp.

A default template will load in the preview section. You can now configure your new stamp.

1. Toggle the switch to hide the author and stamp date if it’s irrelevant information.
2. Under Author you can type in any name.
3. Change the Caption to set the message of your stamp.

Now that you’ve chosen the text you want to use, you can put the finishing touches on your new stamp.

1. Change the transparency of your stamp using the slider next to Opacity.
2. Under Color you can change it.

3. Under Font you can pick from any available on your system.
4. Click the B to bold your text or the I to italicize it.
5. Under Font Size you can make sure the text fits.
6. Click OK to create your stamp.

Your new stamp will be listed with the others, in the Dynamic Stamps section.

You can remove any stamp you’ve created from the list.

1. Hover your mouse over the stamp.
2. Click the X that appears in the corner.
   1. Once a stamp is removed, you’ll need to create it again should you want to re-use it.
