How-To Add Pages To PDFs

So, you want to add pages to that PDF file. Maybe its a document you’ve already created, or one that’s recently been sent your way.

But how in the world do you insert pages to an already pre-existing PDF file that just seems reluctant to be modified?

Inserting pages to a PDF file might seem daunting, but like any task in life, if you have the right tools at your disposal, you can get just about anything done.

How To Edit PDF Files

So what is a PDF file anyway? Well, PDFs are a unique file type made for transferring and storing shareable information for readers universally as the author intended. Get answers to your PDF questions here.

Basically, in order to edit PDFs, you’ll need a tool or an app for that. Much like you would have difficulty editing a Word document if you didn’t have Word.

Enter Soda PDF, a PDF editing software made to easily modify your PDF files your way.

How To Add Pages To Your PDF With Soda PDF

Here’s a step-by-step process of how you can do just that with Soda PDF software.

Launch Soda PDF

Once you’ve clicked on a FREE download of Soda PDF application (more on that below), install the product onto your desktop. Then, open your Soda PDF application.

Create PDF From Blank - Soda PDF

Make your selection for how you’d like to begin inserting pages. Create a PDF from blank or work with a pre-existing file.

Open & Pin The Preview Pane

Once your file has either been created or loaded into the Soda PDF server, move your mouse over to the tool bar on the right hand side of the application.

This tool bar has several features for you to use, but the one you’ll be most interested in is what’s called the Preview Pane.

The Preview Pane is the first box at the top of the right side toolbar, and it will most certainly be your best friend during the process of adding pages to your file.

Just above the Preview Pane icon, you’ll see a Pin icon. Click on this to keep the Preview Pane open.

Click Pin - Soda PDF

As you can see, the Preview Pane shows all of the pages within your PDF document.

Upload Another File

If you’ve made it this far (which you most definitely did), you’ll be happy to know you’re more than half-way through adding pages to your PDF!

Sure, you can upload another document in just a few clicks, but this is 2020 after all so a drag-and-drop functionality is certainly the way to go.

For example, having the file already on the desktop (or in an open folder) will allow you to drag the document directly into Soda PDF.

Drag-And-Drop File On Your CPU

As you can see, simply dropping the file from the desktop into Soda PDF, no matter what the format might be, our software will automatically start to convert your newly added file into a PDF.

Soda PDF desktop application will then let you know whether or not your file was successfully and automatically added to your PDF.

As you can see, a green check mark is always a good sign, so is seeing those newly added pages show up in the Preview Pane:

Next step would be to ensure that all the pages are appearing correctly, so be sure to scroll through the newly added file to cover your bases.

Use the Preview Pane and simply drag-and-drop pages to re-arrange or remove them all together.

Et voila! You’ve added pages to your PDF file. That was easy, wasn’t it?

OK, so technically this isn’t adding pages per say, but merging is a very popular feature that we just can’t stop talking about.

Plus, its relevant to combining documents, which you just did by dragging-and-dropping that desktop file of yours into the application.

For the sake of simplicity, let’s assume you already have Soda PDF desktop application open.

Click On FILE At The Top Toolbar

Here’s a couple of PDF files from a folder location that will need to be combined or merged.

Open Folder Containing PDFs - Soda PDF

Clicking on File will then open your screen to the following options:

  1. Create
  2. Convert
  3. Open
  4. Options
  5. Batch
  6. Account
  7. Exit

In order to combine PDF files, click on Create.

Create From Options in Soda PDF

Once you’ve clicked on Create, you’ll be prompted to choose which source you’d like to Create from:

  1. Blank
  2. Any File
  3. Clipboard
  4. Scanner
  5. URL
  6. Merge Files
  7. Batch Create

As you can see, there’s plenty of possibilities to create PDF files from a variety of different sources. Pretty cool, right?

Now, in order to combine the files, we want to select Merge Files from the list of options. You will then be prompted to make one of the following choices:

File Create Merge Files - Soda PDF

As you can see, Soda PDF gives you the possibility of adding an entire folder of documents, not just selecting files one-by-one.

In this example, we’ve selected to Add Files.

Click Add Files

Clicking on Add Files will open a folder search box. Navigate to the folder on your computer that contains the PDF files you’re looking to combine.

Here, we’ve already found the folder location and have selected the documents to be combined:

Once done, click on Open and Soda PDF will automatically begin to prepare your files for merging.

Simply adding files doesn’t mean they’ve been combined just yet! Soda PDF allows you to select your Page Range that you want to merge.

Choose Page Range - Soda PDF

Select the page ranges if there’s specific content that you need to merge. Or, simply leave the page range as is if you’re looking to merge the entire file.

Click The MERGE Icon

So, you’ve ensured that the right PDF file has been uploaded and you’ve selected the specific page ranges of that file for combining with your current PDF.

Excellent! The final step is to simply click on the Merge icon next to the Merge Files header.

Soda PDF will then start the process of combining your PDF documents instantly. Congrats, you’ve successfully merged files! How simple was that?

PRO TIP: Be sure to use the Preview Pane to view the newly combined documents and re-arrange the pages with a simple drag-and-drop.
