You’ve heard of MS Word add-ins. You’ve even seen the “My Add-ins” button in the Insert ribbon, but you’ve never actually tried any of them, right? Don’t worry, most MS Word users don’t realize just how handy some of the add-ins can be. 

That’s what we’re here for. We did some research and came up with a list of the top 5 MS Word add-ins we think will benefit both your work and personal life.

Translator 

Tired of going back and forth between your Word doc and Google translate? We know the struggles of having to constantly switch between different tabs, especially if you’re not working with multiple screens. 

Luckily, there are MS Word add-ins that will make things easier for you. The Translator is one such add-in. Plus, it’s built by Microsoft, so you know you can trust it. 

You can add it by going to the Insert ribbon and clicking on “My Add-ins.” Then head over to the Office Store and search for “Translator.” This translation add-in is completely free and secure. 

Once you’ve added it, you’ll find it in back at the “My Add-ins” section. Simply click on it which will prompt it to open on the right-side of your Word doc. You can then select the language and the text you want to translate and BAM.

QR4Office 

Adding QR codes to documents makes sharing contact information easy. The QR4Office add-in allows you to encode URLs (http or https), mailto, tel, sms, and geo location. You can also insert a custom code if you so wish. This QR generator uses a secure SSL connection so you can rest assured the private information you input will not be shared or stored. 

Viewers of your Word document simply need to have a QR app downloaded on their phone or use a QR web app (online) to scan your QR code and view the information you intended them to see. It’s a fast and easy way to share information within your Word document. 

Soda PDF Creator 

If you download the free version of Soda PDF, you’ll automatically be able to add the Soda PDF Creator add-in in Microsoft Word. Once added, it’ll be available as a separate tab at the very top of your Word application. 

This add-in is especially useful if you want to convert your Word to PDF without having to open it in your PDF application first. All you need to do is go to the Soda PDF Creator tab and click on “Convert.” This will generate a PDF version of your Word file. 

You can even go one step further and use the “Convert and Mail” button to automatically convert your Word to PDF and share it via email at the same time. This saves you a bunch of extra steps, allowing you to complete all your tasks within 1 application. 

Pexels 

Pexels is another one of the fantastic MS Word add-ins that will help you save time. It lets you insert free stock photos into your Word doc; it has a library of high-quality photos to choose from, and you never have to leave the app to add them to your documents. 

Whether you’re working on a business proposal, blog post, or an academic paper, it’s always a plus to have stock photos handy. It adds extra value to any document and makes reading it more pleasurable. 

Pexels has a nifty search bar you can use to find the images you’re looking for easily, and it also allows you save your favorite images to the “My favorites” folder. All in all, this add-in is a must-have for any MS Word user. 

Resume CV Template Builder 

The resume builder by Rezemo is a great tool for those of you who want to build a proper resume. It allows you to optimize your resume by analyzing the job description you are applying for.
